Project Runway Season 10, Episode 7 - Oh My Lord and Taylor

Season 10, Episode 7: Oh My Lord and Taylor Air 8/30/12
My Lifetime, Thursdays 9pmPST
To celebrate the 10th season, the designers get a chance to be part of the 10 piece Project Runway Capsule Collection at Lord & Taylor that will be sold in stores and online. They had to design a cocktail or evening dress for Lord & Taylor customers that will retail in the $200 to $300 price range. A designer from each of the other nine seasons has also created a look and the dress must fit in with the collection. The winning look will be manufactured by Lord & Taylor along with the others and sold online and at the flagship store. The dress will also be displayed in the window.
For our EtsyMetal Translation:
Design a sophisticated piece of jewelry for evening wear. Something that could go into production. You can choose one of the PR Lord and Taylor designs to complement or for inspiration, check them out here: http://www.lordandtaylor.com/eng/CMS/PRDress_Dress.cfm
Make it work!!

“I love the dress they chose this week but i decided to make something to go with this one - from season 6”

“I made this pendant to CHRISTOPHER PALU 's dress.
Sterling silver, fine silver and
Mexican Crazy Lace Agate from Stones That Rock”

“Ok, I don't think these pieces go with any of the designs from PR or any Lord and Taylor dress for that matter! But here is my piece folded, forged, and enameled and the production line!”

“Can I Buy You a Cocktail? ring
If you are going to wear a sexy cocktail dress you HAVE to have a cocktail ring to go with it!
Created with sterling silver and a smashing gold plated druzy cabochon, this ring is sure to get people's attention!
Ring has been oxidized then brushed carefully with steel wool to soften the steel grey finish of the sterling silver. Artist's initials are stamped on a raised charm on the underside of ring.”

Charm Swap 10

Hello Thursday!  We have several updates today!
Michele says,  'I've made progress!!!! I've worked on my charms :) Laying out the pieces is like creating a puzzle. Each piece needs to fit but be different from the one next to it.'

Inbar is finished!  I can't believe how great they look... Amazing that she is finished already!

Andrea shows us these amazing enameled skulls.  She says she is almost done but has to refinish a few.

Finally, Nikki is almost ready to go.  She says she is waiting on a bit more turquoise but here is a pic of the bits she has... These colors look so wonderful together!  We are coming up to the end of the swap, I can't wait to see everything together!

EMJC - September 2012–Hammers

Our September challenge due to August 31st was:

Please post the picture of the hammer you used as well.

It’s amazing to see what we came out with !

“My Favorite is on the left and I used it a the beginning. He did the work but way too slowly... So I changed hammers at one point to the right one.”

“I decided to make some beads on a bangle with my reclaimed tins as an accent instead of the main event. Each bead has a different texture and metals combination consisting of either silver, brass, bronze, copper or recycled tins. The catch-bead is a teeny weeny recycled tins 'cabochon'.
These were made using my 3 fave hammers but my most fave is the littlest, scruffy one, which was £2 at a cheap tool shop, I like its weight, balance and slightly pointed ball-pein head.”

Deborah Lee Taylor / e5 jewelry

“I was going to keep making the chain, but decided to have it be adjustable.. Used my cheap chasing hammer.. I think it's because of how light it is, my hands don't bother me at all when I'm hammering with this one for some reason..”

Kate Jones Jewelry

“Lately, I have been forging a series of simple hoop earrings. The hammer that I used is is nice and light, and was about $5., 20 years ago. It is the one I use most often of the few hammers I have. Lightly planished earrings made from 1.8mm square wire...”

“Turquoise and Black Onyx Necklace.
I used 2 of my favorite hammers (and the anvil they are laying on) for this piece. The metal hammer to add the texture and the raw hide mallet to flatten the piece as it curled up.”

L. Sue Szabo

“I've been doing some anti-clastic raising and shell forming lately. here's a couple examples and my hammers.”

“Well, I finally finished my pendant/necklace. I used my favorite hammer, I cut lines in the head of your average hammer with my disc cutter, in a criss cross design. I used it to texture the pendant. Having problems getting some good photos, hope these are ok, and that I am also doing this right. Of course love everyone elses work, just fabo!!”
