Members' News for the month of January
Well, hello again. I assume everyone survived and enjoyed the holidays. I know I did. Our news this month is short and sweet. I think many of us take a bit of a breather after all the holiday making and orders. Here's what some of our members are up to next month....
Evelyn Markasky was a Jurors' Choice featured artist in the Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition 2012. Congrats to Evelyn- here's a link to a YouTube video to see more of this amazing competition.

Laura Jane Bouton has a tutorial on some of her bangles in Belle Armoire Jewelry Winter 2013 issue. It is already available in stores and online. Here is the link for the online version-

L. Sue Szabo has 2 pieces in the upcoming exhibition Crossroads at Eastern KY University. This is a national multi-media show running from 1/23-2/22/13.
Sue also has been accepted into The 34th Annual Mesa Contemporary Craft show in Mesa, AZ. This show runs from 1/25-3/31/13. It's a fabulous show if anyone is in that area of the country, I would encourage you to see it.
That's all the news this month- stay tuned and see you next month,
Sue Szabo

EMJC–December 2012–“Henri Matisse”
Our December challenge due to November 30 was :
Inspired by
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henri_Matisse
Deborah Lee Taylor – e5 Jewelry
“This piece is Based on Matisse and His Models.
This quote of his writing inspired this necklace.
…“Matisse was 70, sick, helpless, fearful for his family and friends, and appalled by what had happened to his country. All he could do was work, but he said he dreaded the daily confrontation with form and color on canvas so much that he couldn’t face it without the consoling human presence of the pretty young film extras he paid to pose for him. That’s what keeps me there, surrounded by my fruit and flowers which I get to grips with little by little, almost without noticing . . . and then I wait for the thunderbolt that is bound to follow.”
Bone, sterling silver, nugold brass, bronze metal clay, bronze wire, iolite, wood and amazonite bead.”
Anne Walker Jewelry
“In the past, I have made several pieces rather literally inspired by Matisse's paper cutouts. This asymmetrical dove pendant is one I made a while ago, but it has been sitting on my bench waiting to be finished. This challenge gave me the motivation to do just that, and it will be listed in my Etsy shop soon.”
Fabulous ladies !
