Charm Swap 10

Here it is, Thursday again!
I have updates from two of our CS10 swappers!
Michele says, "I am thinking along the lines of a patchwork quilt."  She is working on an exciting new line using this technique and is quite excited about it.  She is deciding how to resize the idea for the charms.
Victoria says, "I think I know what I am doing but you know me, I change my mind a lot.  :)"
She has given us a hint... "heads or tails."

Members' News for the month of MAY

Well, happy spring everyone!  I hope you can come and visit some of the Etsy Metal team at one of the many shows and happenings we are participating in for the month of May.  Here's the low down..

Danielle Miller will be selling her jewelry at Artishpere in Greenville, SC. May 11 - 13, 2012

 Renee Ford of Panicmama Jewelry will be showing her work at the Creative Metal Arts Guild Jewelry and Metal Arts Show May 4-6th at the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon.

Rachael Sudlow will have her jewelry in the Lawrence, KS Art in the Park show on Sunday, May 6

Shannon of rubygirl  will be at Crafty Wonderland in Portland, OR on May 12th  and at Bazaar Bizarre at Maker Faire in San Francisco May 19th and 20th.

Kathryn Riechert will be participating in the Dunwoody Art Festival May 12-13 and also the 4'th Annual Hilton Head Island Art Festival May 26-27. 

Meg from Simplymega will be returning from her small New Zealand studio to her larger, better equipped US studio.  Welcome back Meg.

Su Trindle of Quercus Silver will be at the Minerva Centre on May 12-13 as part of the Newbridge Arts Trail in Bath, England.

Michele Grady Designs will be selling her jewelry at the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen Fine Craft Fair in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, PA,  May 11 thru 13 -(booth #18 on Walnut Street)
Michele Grady Designs  will also have work included in The Power of the Flower Exhibition, Markeim Art Center, 104 Walnut St., Haddonfield, NJ, May 1 thru 26.

L. Sue Szabo of lsueszabo was accepted into the Ohio Designer Craftsman Show.  This exhibit will be touring the Ohio Craft Museum in Columbus OH but also traveling to other venues in OH throughout the year.  You can view this show by clicking on the link now.  Venue listings are also there.

"Charm Swap 10"

Welcome to Charm Swap 10! This April we are starting our 10th charm swap. I, Ruby, and Renee will be co-curating. We are both so excited to be working on this project, it is such a fun collaboration!

The Etsymetal team does two charm swaps per year. One in April, one in October. When a new swap begins, a signup list is created. Each swap involves 20 members. Each participant creates twenty two charms. At the end of the swap, all charms are sent to the curator, (Renee) who then sorts them into collections. Every participant will receive one of every charm.

Forty charms, two from each contributor will remain.

Using one charm from each artist, a wonderful charm bracelet is created to be sold in the Etsymetal team shop . The other twenty charms are sold individually in the team shop.

Half of the proceeds from the sale of the bracelet go to the Etsymetal Youth Outreach Program. The curator chooses a Youth Art Organization to donate to. I will announce the recipient as soon as it has been selected.

We started signups last week, already we have a full swap!

I will be updating weekly with tidbits and sneak peaks as the artists start the creative process.
